Recital

After Dress rehearsal I was a little concerned for Willa.  She only had 3 numbers in btwn 2 of her dances, which required not only different costumes but different hair too!  Quite an undertaking for what ends up being about 8 minutes.  At dress rehearsal she got so anxious about not having enough time that she melted down and wouldn't go on stage b/c she was crying too hard.  Poor thing.

But happily when showtime came, she(and I) got it all done with time to spare and everyone danced well.  I swear I'm 10 times more nervous than they are and can't really relax till they are done.

The girls had a host of people there to watch them.  Including Willa's awesome teacher Mrs. Cipura and her daughter.  Denver's teacher from the last 3 years came too.
Along with a host of family.

Denver won a Teacher's Choice Award.  A surprise to all of us.  Up on stage they called her name at the end and she stood there smiling ear to ear for a good 10 minutes.  She did work hard this year, really getting into it and practicing at home so I'm glad she was recognized for it.
There were some sad feelings on Willa's part that she didn't get a trophy.  That does seem to be a hard lesson for her in particular.  To be happy for a sister who won something she did not.  But truthfully, Denver did work really hard and practiced far more than Willa.  I think it's just a maturity thing, since Denver at 7 years old did not practice much either.  Oh well.  It wasn't anything a slice of pizza and bag of skittles couldn't fix.

Dance Pictures 2012

It's that time of year again when the estrogen in the house seems to ratchet up a notch as the girls get ready for their recital.  They are in 3 dances each this year, which for me means a dizzying amount of mad dashes from the changing room out to the auditorium and back again to get Dancer A changed and ready for her next dance before the Dancer B is on stage. 6 times.  In the end, I think I might be more nervous for them than they are for themselves.

Denver has come a long way from her first recital.  This was the first year that I could really tell she was getting it and getting into it.  One day I managed to get to class a bit early to pick her up and watched her in ballet and wondered when she had become graceful.

Willa likes dance but doesn't love it.  But until we find her 'thing' it'll do for now.

Gran's Birthday

We celebrated my Mom's birthday last weekend with some silly fun(I admit, I snagged the mustache idea off my friends blog).

Adalyn was convinced hers was on backwards if she couldn't see the black.
My Dad:)  Silly guy, he already has a mustache but played along with us anyway:)

Happy Birthday Mom!

My Chicks with Baby Chicks

No they aren't my chicks, though I have been trying to convince Wayne we could keep a few chickens for years now.  So far, no luck convincing him.  I swear if we framed off a small bit of the garage and penned off a section of backyard we hardly use anyway, it could work!  But considering Legend tried to eat the cat a few weeks ago(seriously, it was close), maybe more live things wouldn't be a great idea.

This chick may look a little anxious.  Once Adalyn got over the idea that they might poop at any moment, she picked them up with gusto.  Maybe too much gusto since that poor little guy may have had the poop squeezed out of him.  I think they all survived with no internal bleeding.

They ended the day by taping things to the floor to create an obstacle course for the chicks to run.  Not sure if the chicks knew what they were supposed to do but they sure had a fun time making it for them.

Easter

So I'm a wee bit late on this but here was our Easter.  Egg Dying.  Pretty dresses, probably the last time they'll get to wear their flower girls dresses.  Dever still has room in hers but Ady and Willa both have had growth spurts making the dress a little too tight and a little too short:)

Easter day had us hunting for eggs out at the Hilton Spindlers:)

They didn't seem to mind that these were the same eggs they found in the house when they wok up.
Seriously, if you know how short my Mom is, it makes this photo even funnier.

Then relaxing after a yummy dinner.
