Kitchen

So with our "spare time" Wayne and I have been trying to decide what to do with our kitchen. Ever the optimist, I am holding out hope that an addition is not out of the question in anywhere from 2-5 years. However, I can't take the kitchen anymore in its' current state. We don't have a dishwasher and every trip to Home Depot I can hear them calling me and one of these days I may just come home with one. So we are doing a "make-do makeover" on our kitchen. It has not been touched since the 80's sometime and, bless his heart, but Grandpa's failing eyesight ended up creating brown cabinets with little splashes of dark green and red when Grandpa thought he was touching up some chips. The floor is gross, even when clean it looks dirty. So we are redoing the floors, the walls, the backsplashes, and countertops. We'll be adding a dishwasher(pause while the trumpets of Heaven sound from above) and replacing the kitchen table somehow, and repainting the cabinets. Mostly when I say we I mean Wayne. But I am at a dilema as to which of our ideas to choose. Any feedback is welcome, though in the end, I can't promise I'll listen to any of it:) Here in the black and grey, the glass tiles would be the backsplash, the solid shiny black is the floor tile, the cabinets would be bright white and the countertops would be that small black sample on the glass tiles you see. The wall color would be one of those samples next to the glass tiles.

Or, behind door number 2 is our other choice. Here we have a much more Earth tone combo that actually does match what I've done so far in the rest of the house. Cabinets would be painted off white or cream, maybe a dark espresso. Countertop would be a creamy whitish color. Wall color on one of those samples. Any thoughts??

  1. hmmmm.. i like them BOTH... i think i like the first more just for the WOW, CHANGE factor, as you are already surrounded in neutrals. and, for some reason i am really liking the blues/grays thing. i'm not sure i LOVE the black counter with black floor. slate floor maybe? but otherwise, yeah. i think i like door #1 ;-)

  5. I like both options a lot. Have you decided yet? I think the blue is fun and if you are tired of it in 5 years when the big remodel happens then it will have been a great 5 years. However, I don't know about black counter and black floor. That sounds dark.
The photos are great. How can Denver be suddenly so tall and long-legged?! Willa's hair cut is sweet. She looks like Suri Cruise in one of the photos! Where is ADALYN? More pics please. Amanda
